My personal belief is that leadership begins with positivity and with the idea that leading is not limited to being in control. As a leader, one must be able to see beyond themselves and look into the heart and souls feels of their peers. In today’s world, many feel that in order to achieve one must be self-focused. That is not an effective way to show leadership in your life or in other’s lives. One of my primary goals in life is to inspire someone to keep trying, not to give and to not lose faith. This goal lead me to want to become a future Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Pediatrician.Being be able to use my personal passions and skills to spread love, positivity, and faith to families and children will be a dream come true. When I am working in a group, I may lead the way slightly, but I always give the overall credit to my team. When I see a classmate or teacher down or lacking confidence, I never hesitate to tell them how amazing they are and how I believe in them. When I tutor at my old middle school, I make sure to make each child smile before I leave especially when I know they have had some trouble. One of my most memorable moments I have happened at the beginning of this school year. Since I am a part of Student Council as the Senior Class Secretary, I volunteered to help with Freshmen and New Student Orientation. We were assigned to specific classrooms to answer questions from the students and to offer advice. The Freshmen and New Students were quiet and shy so I chose to speak to them about the high school experience. I spoke about how important their Freshman year will be. I encouraged them to challenge themselves and to be confident. I even told them my own story of high school. Moreover, a few months later a student from my orientation class recognized me at lunch. He came up to me, said hello, and said “you probably don't remember me but I was in your class at Open House. The things you said really inspired me to push myself this year. Thanks.” and then he
Wide reaching, nurses significantly outnumbered physicians as providers of health care often having utmost vast reach remoteness to underserved communities. Having personally lived in one of the underserved communities in my hometown Western Africa before moving to the United States of America and my life calling to be a nurse from a young age with the deep desire to make a difference. I plan to contribute and continue to contribute immensely to the underserved communities by delivering quality health care to remote regions around the world. I do volunteer service at several clinics in the Atlanta area with many well-known Emory physicians that care for homeless and underserved populations, these volunteer experiences provide me with opportunities and fulfillment to develop added headship skill and experience to meet my daily patients, needs.
I want to pursue a career in medicine by working in the field of nursing. Specifically, after graduating from Illinois State University, I plan to start working in pediatrics to help me become a certified pediatric nurse. A bachelor's degree from ISU’s Mennonite College of Nursing is a good fit for my educational goals because of your high freshman retention, graduation, and pass rates for national and state licensure examinations. ISU has an excellent academic reputation, and because I am someone who takes my academics seriously, academic quality is important to me. After seeing the campus tour videos, looking at your majors, and learning about the Traditional BSN program, I knew ISU was the school for me. I know that at ISU I can develop the skills necessary for success first in college, then in the nursing field.
My true passion for helping others begins with my mother. My mother, Carla worked for Gallipolis Developmental Center for many years as a nursing assistant. Unfortunately, she sustained a severe back injury that ended her career. In 2006, she was rushed into emergency back surgery after several herniated discs ruptured. This left her with severe back pain that she will suffer with for the rest of her life. As a result, I learned to care and to have compassion for those in need. My passion to work in pediatrics stems from my experience of being an aunt. I became an aunt at the age of four and I am now an aunt to six beautiful,
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.

I am currently in this program, which is one stepping
Growing up I’ve always been a handful. But that didn’t stop me from wanting to help people. My goal is to become a Pediatric Registered Nurse. I have always loved children, that's why I love to look after my niece and nephew after school. They live with me in my house of 8 people, and they are busy kids.
