This microbe is also found in plant materials and agricultural products particularly milk, cheese, fermented milk products and beverages such as wine and cider. Historically, Lactobacillus species is most often known to be capable of eliciting beneficial effects on the microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract. It helps the body break down food, absorb nutrients, and fight off bad organisms that cause disease. Taking a probiotic like Lactobacillus by mouth reduces stomach pain and diarrhea along with IBS symptoms, treats and prevents eczema in children, even prevents sores and swelling before chemotherapy and radiation treatments. These are only a fraction of what this microbe can help with in humans and with the development of science, I can only image what else they will discover that Lactobacillus do for us.
