English Essay Plot is very important to a story, novel, or even movies. It helps to make object of the story plain to the reader, and make it as enjoyable to the reader as the author wanted it to be. Plot starts out with an introduction of sorts then runs into the rising action, followed by the main point of the story, then the exposition. When that is over the falling action occurs and finally, the resolution of the story. Willa Cather expresses this very intently in his story “The Sentimentality of William Tavener.” He draws the reader in with a man that is strict with his son and wife who are worthy to participate in the circus in town. Willa tells of the wife trying to convince her husband to allow them to go. Then he surprises the …show more content…
The middle of the story really brings the reader into what Hester and Williams marriage has been about and how it can change now. Hester explains this in a very, seems like, happy tone. Instead of being ok “ landlord and tenant,” they had something to really connect over an event that could bring a bit of surprise back into what was a “purely business” relationship between the two.Willa tells uses of how many things the two actually had in common and for years didn’t know about until a simple argument brought it out of both of them. William tells of how he should not have gone, but did against his dad’s wishes. Then they talk of events that had occurred over the years as kids and probably up until they were married. Willa does great with the plot to really show the reader that the husband and wife actually know a lot more about each other then they gave themselves credit for. At the end of “The Sentimentality of William Tavener,” Willa tells the reader of the results of all the arguing at the beginning, and the connecting at the middle. The result puts the reader at ease with the fact that William is going to allow the boys to go to the circus after all. Willa also tells of how Hester had felt “of having missed something,” in her marriage after all these years of knowing william and host now finding out all this new information. He also tells use that the boys were quite astonished with the fact that they were allowed to go, but also felt that something was gone from it.
For instance the story usually has a surprising and fascinating climax, for example in Jane Eyre when St. John Rivers proposes to Jane, that alone was unexpected however the story becomes more suspenseful when Jane hears Rochester’s voice in her head. At that point the reader is on the edge of their seat wondering how Jane will react and what path she will choose! Further more the story is more dramatic in the way that there is an enormous amount of emotion, and the reader feels bad for the character because they have been through so much. For example Mrs. Reed has abused Jane, Jane had her best friend die, been hurt by Rochester, and St. John Rivers. The reader of course, is going to feels sympathy for Jane, so when Jane shows anger or sadness it does not feel forced, because she has gone through so much and barely
Plot is one of the most important aspects of any story or novel. Without plot, there is no point to the story being told. If there are characters walking through the woods the reader needs to know why they are walking through the woods and where they are going. In “Indian Education” there is a clear and concise plot that follows a logical sequence of events. For example, when Victor is shown to be in second grade he narrates that his teacher “…sent a letter home with me that told my parents to either cut my braids or keep me home from class.” This causes feelings of outrage in not only Victor, but his parents too. Later, as an act of defiance towards his oppressors, Victor tells the reader that his graduation cap does not fit because of his extremely long hair. With each event that happens, the reader can connect it to another event or the story as a whole without confusion or difficulty.
The plot is a very important part of a story. If there was not a plot structure; it would be a very boring story. That is if they could even make a story at all. Every story has to have some kind of plot. A short story might be able to have a simple plot, but a movie or novel would have to have one, or who would pay for the movie or book. Even though, there has to be some kind of plot; that might not be the main purpose of the book. The important part, that draws people in could also be the characters. The girl that is reading The Hunger Games, might not be reading it because she wants to what happens next. It could be that she loves Katniss Everdeen, and wants to keep reading about her. Of course there has to be a plot or there would be no reason to keep reading; it just might not be the main focus.
The plot in a fiction text is important in keeping the reader's attention. The majority of the story builds towards a climax. This climax is where the peak of action, suspense or thrill takes place, which then leads to the resolution of the story. As in "Lord of the Flies" the author continued to increase conflict between the boys until a full-scale war takes place, which is the climax. The building

The mom wants her sons to go because she believes that they deserve it. The dad believes that they should be working instead. Plot is defined as, "the authors arrangement of incidents in a story it is the organizing principle that controls the controls the order of events (Meyer,64)." The element of plot is heavily relied on in the short story, "The Killings" by Andre Dubus. The plot which is completely made inside the imagination of an author (Meyer,64), gives the audience important insight to people, places, and events in the story (Meyer,64) . "The Killings" provides a somewhat conventional plot pattern, where the character is confronted with a problem and is then led into a climax, which late leads to the resolution of the story (Meyer,65). The conventional plot is easy to follow and serves as a basis for movies and other

Plots engage the readers as they capture the reader’s attention, the plot engages the reader to continue on with the story and find out what happens next. Before the reader begins this story they become engaged by the title, this offers the reader a question
At the beginning of the story "The Sentimentally of William Tavener," Ms. Hester states that she believes Mr. William should allow their children to attend the annual circus. She begins rambling about her experience at the circus as a child and the joy she remembers of it. She expects not a word from Mr. William as always, but today he spoke up. To her surprise, Mr. William had attended the same circus also remembers it joyfully. A explanation as to why the plot is ordered this way is because they begin the story in a seemingly normal argument. They lead you down a path of almost certainty until it is not. It even states that Ms. Hester is not custom to wait for an answer because she is not expecting one and she does not have time between
In all of the stories you read there are different ways to predict or guess how the story ends, but sometimes the author does a plot twist. The setting is important to the story being told, It helps the reader establish what is going on and helps them develop an idea of where the story takes place. Many different things are needed to make a good story such as theme which gives you a general thought about what is going on. Foreshadowing lets the reader think and give a prediction to what is going to happen. Irony gives a sense of humor to the reader. Here are some ways the words and others can be used in stories.

The plot or sequence of a story is the order in which events in a story take place and how these events are related to one another. The integral components of a plot include: the exposition, the climax, the conflict and the resolution.
Plot is made up of scenes that when put together make the story. Plot shows us the flow and relationship of incidents, events, or actions of the narrative. The climax of the story can be revealed in a single phrase or speech from one of the primary persons in the story. In the case of my text, I believe that this occurs in 24:5-7. The angels have a simple speech that brought together, for the women, why Jesus’ body is gone and how he lives.
A plot is the series of conflicts that keeps the story moving and the reader interested. Without one, a short story would just be a pattern of words. In Up the Slide, the plot is very confusing and hard
I have chosen plot as the main focus of my piece. Short stories place a large emphasis on the plot and a pressure to move the plot along in a timely manner without seeming rushed. A short story bares many similarities to a novel though it is condensed into around 800-1000 words. Because of this short stories
