When I think of writing I think of peace and pressure all in one. I love writing when it's just me writing to myself releasing my frustration on to paper. I might write poems, letters, or just dairy entries but it's my peace filled moment. I start to think of writing as pressure when I thinking about writing anything anyone be sides myself will read. I have always pushed myself to do well in my writing courses yet I tend to fall short do to simple mistakes. I start to over think or over look simple things that make great impacts on my grades.
As a young child I always prided myself in my writing. I attended the Young Authors Conference every year during elementary school. The Young Authors Conference allowed us to write and share books that

I love the points that Trimble made when talking about setting up and executing an essay. I will be using the points Trimble made throughout my writing from now on. I have always wondered if my papers were interesting or informative enough for my audience but, without thinking to put myself in their shoes while writing. Thinking of your audience while writing helps you to make a complete essay that wont leave your audience wondering at the end.
I have always love to leave a question at the end of my writing for my audience to answer. I felt that it would help them to think about the subject more themselves. After taking my English 101 class and noticing how bad of an idea it was only confused me more. I didn't have a full understanding that leaving a question at the end of some writings and not others made my writings incomplete. I thought it was my signature closing for my writings. Help me Dr. Ricks what am I doing wrong?
What helps to inspire me to write. Life. From the beginning we all have to deal with writing in some form or another. As a child it's always a focus or learning to identify the letters that make the words that we write. Once we get older our focus is learning the rules and importance of writing. I feel during this time you start to reveal if you enjoy writing or not. Writing is a gift just like singing and dancing some have it and some don't however, we all need writing to survive in this
Education. Why is it such an easy word to understand but such a tedious task to accomplish? We come from a society that hands out education easily, however that education comes with a price. Jean Anyon explains this process through her research in From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work. Anyon dissects the socio-economic class that determines the types of instruction students receive. Through her research one can compare her findings to Mike Rose’s narrative, I Just Wanna Be Average, to be true and insightful. Rose speaks of his high school life as an underachiever as well as his ability to break free from the mold that he was once placed in. Comprehending both Anyon and Rose, I, myself, have come face to face with the
Throughout my degree I have taken subjects that provide various strategies for developing engaging learning for diverse classes. While my year 9 English class was organised based on grading and performance of students all other classes were of mixed ability, interest and learning styles. Within my observation week I took note of the teaching styles that were primarily used; year 11 Standard were primarily learning through presentations and note taking, while year 9 English worked well through discussion and sharing of information. Other things I noted was that year 7 needed primarily short activities that link but are different to engage the range of students and ensure they were taking in the appropriate information. My year 11 Drama class
In the beginning of the semester, everyone was write down two goals that would be accomplished in the semester. Experience in writing papers showed me that I was weak in writing any type of papers. However, I was determined to stop repeating idea by rewording as well as writing information that is unnecessary. Also, I knew I had to improve on writing essays with no to very few mistakes, whether it is structurally or punctually. I am pleased with discontinuing any repetitions while writing, but am not so pleased about structuring and punctuating my sentences.
This year in our English 1010 class, we covered many different genres and types of writing. We covered how to write personal narratives, how to respond to other students and other forms of writing, and how to professionally write essays. Briefly, we touched down on how to write argumentatively and were also required to create an infographic, wish was probably my favorite assignment. Although I never thought of myself as a strong writer, I believe that this class has greatly improved not only my writing skills, but my thinking skills as well. This was my first English class to be taken through dual enrollment and I believe that it went quite successfully while challenging me as a writer.
Writing became a way for me to express other feelings throughout my young years, but I always ended up writing in notebooks about how I was lonely and felt that I was the source of everything wrong in my life.
WRD 103: With a very busy theatre class schedule I was limited to which teachers I could choose from, and was left to about two. I put both teachers names in Rate my Professor, the magical site that lets you know about the experiences other students had with almost any teacher at your desired university. Michael Moore had significantly higher ratings, and he had comments that said how he was an amazing teacher and really wants students to learn. After reading this I told my fellow students that I found a good teacher in a time slot that worked and we put the class into our course cart. I never realized that this small choice of deciding who was going to be my professor for English would influence my life so heavily. This class has given me so many new experiences and has offered me so much. From finding a new outlook for a news source, to how I should write, to even learning more about myself through simple conversation. I can’t
May you send me the mistakes that I had in the Mid term Exam to modify them.
When I was in the second grade we had a new student in our class named Yvonne. Yvonne had recently arrived from Haiti and knew very little English. Due to the fact that she didn’t understand English a whole lot, the other kids in my class thought it would be funny to call her names and bully her. One day we were at electives. Our class was divided into two, some going to Dance others going to Drama. The doors were across from each other so we could see what was happening. I was in Dance, as well as Yvonne. We were practicing our routine for Ciara’s “1, 2 step”. Yvonne was quick to pick up the dance and was amazing at it, which I think made the other kids in our class resent her. Our instructor dismissed us 5 minutes early to pack up our things. I quickly went to my corner and grabbed my backpack. When I looked up I saw a bunch of girls surrounding Yvonne. I remember hearing them calling her names like ‘ugly’ and ‘loser’. I noticed that no one moved to defend her. One of the girls actually pushed her to the ground and took her backpack dumping all her things on the floor; that’s when I acted. I pushed my way through the girls and placed myself in front of Yvonne. I grabbed her backpack out of the girl’s hand pushed her and called her a ‘mean witch for making fun of Yvonne’. I also told the other girls that if they messed with Yvonne, they would have to
Before I enrolled in this Pacer English class I would generally study in my room, sitting on my bed, or I would sit at the kitchen table and study. I had a many advantages to doing this, because I would typically do it in the mornings, after my classes, when my husband was at work. I did have some disadvantages to this, because when I would sit in my bed to do my homework, I would get very restless or I would have cramps in my neck, causing me to want to quit studding for that time. When I would sit with my back against the head board and pillows all behind me I found that this made me feel more comfortable when I was sitting in my bed. The disadvantage to sitting at the kitchen table seemed more uncomfortable to me, because the chairs seemed hard after sitting there for quite some time. When I study, I try to sit for hours at a time to try and get all my work done at one time. I made sure that no matter where I was studying,
Being that it is a day before quarter one ends, my biggest challenges so far have been keeping my grades at a proficient level consistently. When it comes to my academics the struggle these past few months was in my Pre-AP English class. Every other week or so we would take reading check quizzes to make sure we were reading our books and that we understood any confusion we might have faced. My social life is a whole other story, to make it short we are middle school students going through everything WE could possibly think of that has nothing to do with real life problems; also change happens and it takes time getting used to. I am handling my self the best way I know how when it comes to me… well let’s just say I’m a handful in a positive
Describing the Class: The class to which the syllabus relates is the first class from two designed to help students develop their abilities to produce unambiguous expository writing. Focus and concentration will get placed on written composition processes like analyzing audiences, selecting topics, developing the fundamentals they will need later in writing a thesis, and making revisions. By the time they’ve completed the course, each student will produce prose adhering to English writing standards, works displaying coherence and unification, plus solid developmental quality.
This chapter is about five things everyone needs to consider when writing anything, they are purpose, audience, genre, stance and design. The chapter goes through each one of these rhetorical devices and explains there purpose step by step. The main point that’s being conveyed is to go over these concepts when beginning to write anything. I started off reading this chapter and about two pages in I grabbed my note book to start jotting down notes. There was no doubt in my mind that this would serve to me as a great tool for writing down my essays in the future. It could be argued that most of the rhetorical devices used in this chapter are common questions sense that everyone should just know before they write, but its still wise to go
Writing is an art form. It has entertained us for centuries. It is an invaluable tool for leaving a record for future generations. It is a teacher that has shown us how to better ourselves and further our careers and helped fuel our ambitions. The problem for many though is simply how to start.
I am writing to you hoping that you would be persuaded on what I am about to say. I strongly believe that you should give me extra ten points on my semester grade average. Last year, I failed English III, but this year I am planning to pass this class this time. Trust me, I am tired of this class already just all I need to do is to pass this semester and graduate for my senior year.
From a very young age, writing has been a passion of mine. Through writing I have developed an
