A.) Explain why it is important to promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others (ref. 2.2) It is important to promote appropriate behaviuor and respect for others in the class to create a safe and comfortable learning environment in which learners feel at ease to express their opinion, participate in classroom discussions and activities and ask questions allowing learners to complete their work to the best of their ability and ultimately achieve their goals. Each learner may have different religious or cultural backgrounds and even different learning needs. Therefore it is important to create a learning atmosphere that promotes the appropriate behavior and respect for others. A good way of achieving this positive learning environment …show more content…
Equality does not mean treating all learners the same (Turner, Whiting, 2014). Both the teacher and the learners must appreciate that every learner is different but has the same rights and this should be in the classroom ground rules decided at the beginning of the course or discussed at the beginning of the course. Valuing diversity is all about valuing the differences between learners (Turner, Whiting, 2014) whether it be religion, culture, age, experience or something else. There are several ways to value diversity in my field. Almost every lesson i put up a map on the board of country where the animal the student is learning about from and have a discussion with the class about the country and the part of the world and whether anyone is from there or has visited there allowing learners to value the diversity between them. The materials and hand-outs I prepare for my lessons also include pictures, photos and videos representing different ages, races, cultures and religions where possible to promote equality and value
Children will always need guidance in what good behaviour is and it is the adult/carer role to teach them. Working with children who have behavioural issues as a result of neglect and abuse I often see children acting in negative ways as a way of seeking attention. This is a result of their lived experiences and they need to be taught how to seek attention in a more positive way that allows for less chaos and full of growth. Behaviour of such kind is also an indicator something is not right and they lack the right communication skills or are not being heard. It is important that we try to identify patterns of behaviour or triggers because:
The teacher must know how to set the tone for the classroom and ensure that it is a productive learning environment. The teacher wants to avoid anything that would provoke them negatively as well as the students. At the same time, they must know what is needed to reinforce good behavior.
Explain how to establish and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment 7.3.1. Explain how to establish ground rules with learner’s to promote respect for each other. 9.3.2. Explain how to promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others. 7.3.2.
A, Create a positive classroom environment which is safe, friendly and inclusive to all learners.
Engaging in respectful and positive interactions to form a trusting secure relationship, being mindful of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communicating customs, what is considered appropriate mannerisms when communicating and showing respect for Elders or leaders of the community. Gaining knowledge of the culture, history and customs. Use a cultural broker or interpreter when required. Collaborate with the appropriate people such as interpreters, professionals, Elders and all families from the service in regards to updating policies, ideas for events
Having diversity is very important, and the learner has to understand how important it is have the correct relationship is there in the group of people. The students will also have to understand this.
As a future teacher, one of the ways I can accomplish and promote inclusion is to develop lesson plans which positively promote multicultural diversity. By including cultural differences and similarities, I will be helping my students understand and appreciate how to be respectful of others culture as well as supporting and demonstrating an equitable learning environment for all students learning experiences. Promoting equity and diversity in the classroom are essential in ensuring my students will be able to thrive and develop values and attitudes to survive in a multicultural society. They learn to celebrate their uniqueness in ways that foster harmony and
In conclusion, equality in a classroom doesn’t really start until the teacher addresses it. It’s really important that they do so. By doing so, students will be able to treat each other equally. They will also be able to trust and respect not only each other, but the teacher as well. It’s like the golden rule: Treat others how you want to be
When we structure our activities to acknowledge different perspectives we enhance student learning (http://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/cultural-diversity-at-school/). As teachers we must find ways to teach our children in ways that they learn and this at times can be difficult and for
Few features must be considered to provide students with an excellent quality of lesson and school life. The most important fact is to create a welcoming and intellectually challenging learning environment. Building relationships and communicating with students and parents, creating
For a functional classroom, respect must play a large role. While there are many aspects of respect, three major roles needed are respect of students, respect of teachers, and respect of property. First, in a functional classroom there must be a respect of the students from the teacher. As according to Dr. Seuss, “A person’s a person no matter how small.” By respecting their students, a teacher is more likely to have a positive response in their classroom environment, leading to less classroom issues and adversity. Without these issues, a class is less likely to be distracted by inter-student issues, and more likely to be able to pay attention, as there is less distraction present. This makes the teacher’s life easier, as the easier a class is to control, the less stress is brought
A positive learning environment requires consistency within the classroom and by the teacher. Rules need to be established in the classroom. Students and teachers need to understand and agree upon the rules and procedures of the classroom.
the best when they feel invested and responsible for the classroom community that they inhabit.
Diversity in classrooms can open student’s minds to all the world has to offer. At times diversity and understanding of culture, deviant experiences and perspectives can be difficult to fulfill, but with appropriate strategies and resources, it can lead students gaining a high level of respect for those unlike them, preferably than a judgmental and prejudiced view.
The term “respect” has already shown up various times in this piece; that is because it is the key element of classroom management. A classroom founded on respect creates an open and safe environment where the students can have free-exchange of ideas with one another and the teacher. This aspect of management requires constant and consistent enforcement and modeling. Defining what is respectful from the beginning and giving a rationale for treating others with respect is a great way to start.
